The Assistant Director of Sales/Director of Catering is a multi-task position within the sales department. This position supervises the Catering Sales Manager(s) and Conference Planner at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa, as well as helps manage the day to day sales and revenue for all banquet events. This position participates in selling as well as event detailing for key, high level accounts. This position helps oversee the execution of high level events at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa, including weddings, as needed.

Sales Requirements:

  • A background in selling function rooms, Food & Beverage, A/V and Overnight Guestrooms is preferred.
  • Aggressively solicit, negotiate, and close new and repeat business via in-person sales calls, social media, telemarketing, emails, and networking.
  • Meet and exceed sales goals by maximizing banquet space and revenue potential in all revenue producing areas.
  • Prepare contracts, coordinate details with clients, prepare Banquet Event Orders, follow through to be certain signature, deposit, payment and other requirements are met, and effectively communicate details of all events with department managers via established guidelines.
  • Consistently represent Catania Hospitality Group in a professional manner at all times
  • Cross Sell and refer business opportunities to other CHG properties as appropriate
  • Maintain records and report on sales progress.
  • Follow company policies and established procedures

Hospitality Skills:

  • Attention to detail in both selling and the execution of events.
  • Excellent listening skills to determine client needs
  • Effective communication skills to share knowledge of hotel amenities, negotiate rates/prices, influence decisions and upsell
  • Passion for and focus on delivering a high level of service that exceeds guest expectations
  • Knowledge of current trends in Food & Beverage and willingness to share and help establish new concepts and creative ideas
  • Ability to quickly resolve problems and delegate hotel staff with a plan of action as needed
  • Maintain a positive attitude and team approach

Technical/Business Skills:

  • Knowledge of hotel sales software (Delphi)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Clear, consistent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional detail on contracts and in follow up with clients
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
