About the Role:
The Permitting Coordinator will efficiently coordinate and facilitate the permitting and inspection process. Responsible for gathering and submitting all specified plans and applications required by local building departments and the management, scheduling, and successful completion of permits, service and inspections, to final approval. As an integral member of our Project Management and Field Operations team, the Permit Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring consistent job flow and contributing to a positive customer experience.
Must have the ability to work both independently and as a member of the team under the direction of the Project Manager. Maintain flexibility and organization to work in office and in field, as needed. This position will interact closely with the Project Manager, the Construction Manager, Team Leads and Service and Permitting Technicians, and the Project Management Team.
*Submit permit packets to local municipals driving permits to a zero-queue each week.
*Pick-up permits submitted immediately following the specified turn-around time and post on job sites or organize pickup, as appropriate.
*Track and document job permit status in project management systems. Maintain and update permit tracking and reporting systems/spreadsheets with ability to provide daily/weekly status reports as needed.
*Manage external vendors, including tracking and reporting on current status with bottom line responsibility for results. Track and audit billing and expenses to ensure compliance.
*Communicate clearly and quickly with managers and other departments about changes to process, requirements or obstacles to work flow.
*Work closely with Engineering and Plan Review to ensure plans are accurate and to specification.
*Follow-up on issues with appropriate departments to move jobs through the permitting process as quickly as possible
*Track and maintain relevant business licenses, as needed.
*Attend weekly team meetings; provide status reports, share ideas and participate in feedback
*Conduct in-person meetings with local government officials to successfully process permits and answer any outstanding questions regarding energy products
*Schedule and conduct inspections and coordinate Permitting and Service Technicians to smoothly and efficiently pass inspections. Maintain bottom line accountability for moving jobs quickly and efficiently through permitting and final inspections.
*Monitor and manage reporting documentation from installation through final inspection, to ensure project requirements and plan changes are properly addressed for a successful final inspection.
*Update our internal database to capture changing current rules, standards, and nuances from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
*Develop and improve on systems and strategies to ensure timely submittals, inspections, sign-offs, communications and completion.
*Represent the company in a professional and friendly manner
*Experience and background in permitting and knowledge of the NEC and applicable permitting codes and standards;
*Have a strong work ethic, integrity, high standard of workmanship with strong attention to detail;
*Possess solid electrical/mechanical/construction knowledge;
*Must be able to implement best safety practices on every job site;
*Basic understanding of Network functions, IP address knowledge, internet connection and troubleshooting of low voltage circuits;
*Experience scheduling and schedule management;
*Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills;
*Extremely organized, disciplined, structured and thorough;
*Construction electric/gas training and background preferred;
*Willingness to take additional training and certifications, as needed.
*Must be able to effectively communicate both internally and externally including; various internal departments and internal employees, customers, vendors, and inspectors;
*Ability to communicate and build relationships with local inspectors, learn and adapt to new jurisdictional requirements;
*Have excellent verbal communication and documentation skills;
*Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
*Ability to work independently;
*Must be self-motivated and have a strong desire to succeed;
*Good computer and technical skills, with experience working in cloud based environments, Google Suite (Docs, Sheets), spreadsheets, CRM and ERP/Project Management systems;
*Professional appearance and customer interaction;
*Valid Driver’s License (No DUI/DWI in the last three years)
*Physically capable of performing work duties;
*Have full range of mobility in upper and lower div
*Be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time
*Be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks
*Be able to lift 50+ pounds, as needed.
