Workforce Development Technician


The Workforce Development Department is recruiting for Workforce Development Technicians who work directly with Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) participants, to provide job search assistance, job referrals, and placement assistance to job seekers. Workforce Development Technicians will conduct initial client interviews/orientation; gather client information; create and maintain enrollment files; perform data entry; and disseminate general information, such as job and training opportunities.

Background: Applicant must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment.  Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required; a valid California driver license is required at time of appointment. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance.

Fifteen (15) semester (23 quarter) units of completed college coursework in public/business administration, human/behavioral/social science, education or a closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application if a degree (as listed above) has not been conferred.

One (1) year of experience (clerical, technical or professional) in a Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA), Workforce Investment Act (WIA), CalWORKS Employment Services, Regional Occupational Program (ROP), Job Corps, Department of Rehabilitation (DOR), Wagner-Peyser Act, or Department of Labor Welfare to Work program, or related federally funded workforce program.

Substitution: One (1) additional year of experience may substitute for the required education.

There will be a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on a review of the application and supplemental questionnaire. It is to your advantage to be explicit in your responses on the application and supplemental questionnaire.
